E-Cadh is the most important marker of epithelial cells. Once SNA1 repressor triggers the Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), CDH1 gene is down regulated, and E-Cadh protein is lost. Epithelial cells undergo into important phonotypical changes and become mesenchymal cells.
