Mr. Niels Wartenberg: My name is Niels Wartenberg. And on behalf of Microscan, I would like to welcome you to Lab Automation. I'm a Senior Applications Engineer, been with Microscan for about 11 years. And I'm going to talk about our products and our latest offerings.
What you see here is our lead thing for this show. That is our Vision MINI. That is a full vision system that is built into the housing of one of our 2D readers.
So, we have all the capabilities in here. We have lighting. We have the lens. We have the sensor, image processing. Everything is built into this one housing. And all you need to do as a customer is to provide us the five volts. And then we can do everything from there and feedback the results of the inspection to you.
What we're doing in this particular example is looking at four tubes. And we are checking absence and presence in addition of course to reading the bar code.
We could be doing other things, such as height measurement, but we are not doing it at this particular example.
What we're showing here is the flexibility of this Vision MINI as far as being configurable by the user to give you whatever results you're looking for, for a particular situation.
As you may know, Microscan was started 30 years ago based on reading bar codes only with a laser. We then involved into reading 2D marks. And in 2008, we acquired a Machine Vision company.
So, part of the story that we have for our customers is that Microscan can sell anything and provide you with a solution, encompass in anything from this engine that reads 1D-only bar codes for less than $200 all the way up to a Vision Camera that can be used in a Vision system with a PC with precision lighting that we actually also make and give you a full-blown Vision solution for inspection, gauging, anything along those lines.
This is a big strength for us compared to a lot of other players in the field because, when we are talking to you about your application, we will find the tools in our toolbox that best solves your application.
It's not a matter of that we only have one tool and we will try to fit your application to our tool, but rather a matter of we can look at your application, understand it, understand your pain point, understand what it is you need, understand what kind of price level you're looking at, and then come up with the most appropriate solution for that.
That we have been around as long as we have and that we retain our talent the way that we do means that we'll be able to support you for years to come.
I have a very good story for this particular market for life sciences, where we deliver products sometimes for 10, 15 years for the same application.
Actually, I've worked on one application that I was working for the customer back then and designed it in--back in the early '90s, '94. And we're still providing that solution today, unchanged.
