Professor John B. Fenn of Virginia Commonwealth University discusses the reasearch that he and others did that led to the development of electrospray ionization (ESI), one of the key ion sources for mass spectrometry. For this work Dr. Fenn received the Nobel prize for Chemistry in 2002.
