JB-4® Embedding Kits & Reagents

Source : Polysciences, Inc.

Water-soluble, GMA based plastic resin intended for use in the preparation of embedded samples for high resolution light microscopy. JB-4 does not require dehydration to absolute alcohol except for dense, bloody, or fatty tissue specimens. Clearing agents such as xylene and chloroform are not required. JB-4 yields semi-thin sections (0.5µ-2µ) with excellent morphological preservation.

Excellent for:

  • Routine & Special stains
  • Histochemical staining
  • Small non-decalcified bone specimens

Point-of-Care Diagnostic Tests Streamline Patient Care

Point-of-care (POC) tests have evolved from a unique approach for gathering information to an almost routine, more efficient solution for patients to receive care without having to travel to different locations for lab work. Often POC tests can provide faster time to results, which translates into better patient care. Today many POC tests are available; they focus on everything from blood chemistry to HIV infection. Here is a glimpse into common areas of POC testing and the processes involved in developing new POC diagnostic tests.

Cell Signaling: Sussing out the Kinases

Broadly speaking, querying cell signaling often means looking at phosphorylation or its proxy—by looking for the presence of an “activated” kinase or the result of its activity (the phosphorylated substrate) or even for a by-product of that activity (like ADP). Here is a sampling of some ways researchers are examining cell signaling by monitoring kinase activity.
