In vivo imaging is becoming an increasingly valuable tool. And while you surely need the right imaging system for your research, you also need the right dyes. After all, the image you produce can only be as good as the dye you are looking at. When choosing a labeling agent for your in vivo imaging application, you’ll want to be certain to choose something that emits in the near IR so as to minimize autofluorescence. And, as with any labeling agent, you’ll also want a dye that gives good signal with minimal non-specific binding. Also, look for dyes with good photostability.
