Endotoxins are lipopolysaccarides (LPS) from bacterial cell membranes which co-purify with DNA. While endotoxin-free DNA purification kits are available from some companies, if you’ve used a standard DNA prep kit or a home brew method, you’re purifying endotoxins along with your plasmid DNA. This won’t be a problem unless you plan to use this DNA for transfection of endotoxin-sensitive cells. Fortunately, endotoxin removal is quick, easy and efficient with the products listed below. Each of these kits uses a different approach to remove endotoxins from your DNA sample, but all guarantee that your DNA will emerge clean and transfection-ready.
