Glycoproteins are known to play essential roles in numerous biological functions. Many are involved in cell signaling events that are essential to cell migration, cell adhesion, and immune function as well as tumor growth and metastasis. With such a central role in a multitude of important biological processes, it's no wonder that glycobiology is an increasingly popular field. Of course, studying these sugar-coated proteins is not always straightforward. Fortunately, there are an array of antibodies, staining kits, labeling reagents, isolation kits and other tools to assist the budding or experienced glycobiologist. In addition, numerous purified glycoproteins can be purchased to further aid your research.
