ELISPOT Assays

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent spot (ELISpot) assays are one of the most sensitive cellular assays available, capable of detecting cytokine-secreting cells down to one cell in 100,000. Measuring the response of T cells to antigens is of vital importance in drug discovery and disease management. Although ELISpot assays employ the ELISA technique, they are up to 200 times more sensitive than conventional ELISA, and provide both qualitative and quantitative data. Spots can be counted using an automated system or can be done manually. Ready-to-use, one-step kits address the issues of assay complexity and reproducibility of data. These kits detect and enumerate one or two analytes simultaneously, thereby eliminating assay development and the need to purchase separate antibodies.
