Description

Product Characteristics:
ADAMTS proteases are secreted enzymes containing a prometalloprotease domain of the reprolysin type. The ADAMTS proteases function in processing of procollagens and von Willebrand factor as well as catabolism of aggrecan, versican and brevican. They have important roles in connective tissue organization, coagulation, inflammation, arthritis, angiogenesis and cell migration.

Subcellular location: Secreted, Extracellular matrix

Synonyms: A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin mots 15, A disintegrin like and metalloprotease reprolysin type with thrombospondin type 1 mot 15, A disintegrin like and metalloprotease Reprolysin type with thrombospondin type 1 mot 15 preproprotein, A disintegrin like and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 mot 15, A disintegrin like and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 mot 15 preproprotein, ADAM metallopeptidase with thrombospondin type 1 mot 15, ADAM TS 15, ADAM TS15, ADAMTS 15, ATS15_HUMAN.

Target Information: This gene encodes a member of the ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs) protein family. ADAMTS family members share several distinct protein modules, including a propeptide region, a metalloproteinase domain, a disintegrin-like domain, and a thrombospondin type 1 (TS) motif. Individual members of this family differ in the number of C-terminal TS motifs, and some have unique C-terminal domains. The protein encoded by this gene has a high sequence similarity to the proteins encoded by ADAMTS1 and ADAMTS8. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
