anti-aquaporin 9 Antibody

Description

Product Characteristics:
Forms a channel with a broad specificity. Mediates passage of a wide variety of non-charged solutes including carbamides, polyols, purines, and pyrimidines in a phloretin- and mercury-sensitive manner, whereas amino acids, cyclic sugars, Na(+), K(+), Cl(-), and deprotonated monocarboxylates are excluded. Also permeable to urea and glycerol.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane

Synonyms: SSC1, AQP-9, HsT17287, Aquaporin-9, Aquaglyceroporin-9, Small solute channel 1, AQP9

Target Information: The aquaporins are a family of water-selective membrane channels. The protein encoded by this gene allows passage of a wide variety of noncharged solutes. It stimulates urea transport and osmotic water permeability\, there are contradicting reports about its role in providing glycerol permeability. The encoded protein may also play a role in specialized leukocyte functions such as immunological response and bactericidal activity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
