Description

Product Characteristics: Parvalbumin (PV) is a calcium binding protein. It belongs to a larger group of EF hand proteins and consists of a single, unbranched chain of linked amino acids. Parvalbumin participates in the decay of calcium in the contraction/ relaxation cycle of fast twitch muscles. And it is implicated in maintaining the balance between excitation and inhibition in the cortex as well as in the hippocampus. It is also expressed in specific muscle fibers and fast-firing neurons.Rabbit Anti-Parvalbumin Polyclonal Antibody is developed in rabbit using purified His-tagged human Parvalbumin (Swiss Prot: P20472) full length recombinant protein.
Target Information: The protein encoded by this gene is a high affinity calcium ion-binding protein that is structurally and functionally similar to calmodulin and troponin C. The encoded protein is thought to be involved in muscle relaxation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
