Serine/threonine-protein kinase B-raf (BRAF) is a member of the Raf family. It participates in the transduction of mitogenic signals from the cell membrane to the nucleus. BRAF mutations, especially BRAF V600E mutation, are frequent in benign and malignant human tumors such as melanoma, papillary thyroid carcinoma, ovarian cancer, and colorectal carcinoma.
