Product Characteristics: FUNCTION: Cell adhesion molecule that mediates homophilic cell-cell adhesion in a Ca2+-independent manner. Promotes neurite outgrowth in hippocampal neurons. Subcellular location: Membrane, Single-pass type I membrane protein Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in the brain, with a weak, but broad expression in the cerebral cortex and diencephalic nuclei. Strongly expressed in both the pyramidal layer and the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus.
