Description
Inhibits formation of peptidoglycan polymers of bacterial cell wall. Resistance to spectinomycin may develop by mutations in rpsL gene that prevent this antibiotic from binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibiting proper translation; streptomycin resistance is recessive.
